Bermuda is a British territory located in the Atlantic Ocean. It´s known for its pink beach sands and clear blue waters. English is mainly spoken, though Portuguese is spoken in some parts. The capital of Bermuda is Hamilton.
I discovered that the island is surprisingly close to the East coast. It’s just East of the Carolinas and Southeast of New York. A flight from New York is almost two hours!
Mom, grandmom, brother and I actually spent a day trip to Bermuda as a cruise destination, which took two days. We arrived at King’s Wharf port and rode a speed boat and a ferry to Hamilton. During the rides, we viewed the clear blue waters and unique building structures.
A lot of the architecture in Bermuda have white colored rooftops. These stone roofs are shaped in a pyramid to funnel rainwater since drinking water is scarce. Homeowners store the water in large tanks that sit next to the home.

We arrived at the beautiful city of Hamilton, walking around and taking photos. It was partly cloudy and around 70 degrees, perfect weather for walking.

We chatted with a couple Bermudians as well. I noticed that they had a slight British accent, and likewise, they noticed our US American accent. The population was also diverse, with blacks and whites who spoke with that accent.
Mom and I then spent the remainder of the day at Horseshoe Bay, which is one of many beaches in Bermuda. The pink sand here is a mix between the sand and remnants of coral reef. It may not seem like it from a distance, but it’s more visible close up.

If you’re also into rock climbing and cave exploration, this is a beach worth checking out. Just make sure you bring some footwear and sunscreen if you do so!

I personally loved this beach, but it was very crowded. We were lucky to get a spot!
We stayed at the beach until around 2:30 pm. The cruise would depart the island by 4, so leaving after 2 allowed enough time. Getting transportation back wasn’t too bad either: We only had to take a bus and ride a ferry. The bus ride was about 30 minutes and the boat ride was probably 45 minutes at least. But we made it back in time!
